THOUSANDS of children, teachers and administrators at schools across the Alpine Shire celebrated this year's Book Week by dressing up as some of their favourite literary characters last week.
The theme of this year's Book Week was 'reading is magic', with everyone who participated delivering on the magical costume re-creations from their favourite reads.
"Reading really is magic," Marian College English teacher, Bridget Goodyear said.
"It can take you to other worlds, explore new ideas and help you understand different people.
"This week we wish to honour the magic that authors and illustrators bring to the lives of readers.
