Big Hill powered up for event possibilities

MOUNTAIN bikers now have access to greater scope for multi-use projects after the power supply was successfully upgraded at the Big Hill Mountain Bike Park Trailhead.

Team Mount Beauty put forward a budget submission for the 2023-24 financial year to upgrade the existing 10amp single phase power to an upgraded three phase supply and 15amp outlets.

The existing supply was limiting the types of facilities that could be used in this area, as well as impacting the safety of users during events.

Works also included the reinstation of the streetlight on the power pole near the toilet block, upgrading switchboards, sub boards, and metre panels, as well as motion sensor lights in the tractor shed to facilitate safe environments when accessing the site.

Alpine Shire Mayor, Councillor Sarah Nicholas, congratulated Team Mount Beauty on the completion of their project, highlighting this submission as a valuable example of community input into the budget process.

"These upgrades will broaden the scope of activities that can be held at the Big Hill Mountain Bike Park trailhead, which opens up possibilities for both Team Mount Beauty and other event organisers," she said.

"Community submissions are integral to the budget process, which encourages residents, community groups, and organisations to put forward their projects and ensure that community priorities are considered on a regular basis."

The works were completed by a local supplier in conjunction with AusNet.
