People and lifestyle
Shane Spencer – Myrtleford

How long have you been living in the area?

I've been here about eight years.

What do you do for a living?

I work at Ampol Myrtleford once a fortnight, I do nightfill at Coles and I also own and run the local taxi.

What are your hobbies and interests?

I'm a gaming nerd and I like to fiddle with electronics and cars.

What do you like about the area?

It's a beautiful area. I love the weather, even though it's crazy at times. I came from the north coast of New South Wales, where it was constantly hot and humid, so I enjoy the four seasons.

Where would you take visitors to showcase the area?

Between here and Bright because that's where it's most beautiful, or Mount Beauty.

Is there anything you would change about the area?

That's a tough one. The main thing I'd change in town is have things open a bit more. I'd like to expand my taxi business to help out more people, whereas at the moment it's only me and the missus – she does the book work, I'm the only driver. It's a bit hard to help everyone out when I can. I'd like to expand into Bright at some stage because Bright's got nothing.
