How long have you lived in Harrietville?
Nine and a half years.
What do you do for a living?
I'm on the Disability Support Pension, so I do a bit of volunteer work here and there. I just enjoy life, but I don't take it for granted.
What are your hobbies or interests?
Latest Stories
I like arts and crafts and shopping, but I've also had a lot of medical issues. I'm trying to get over my medical issues, sort my life out and get back on track.
What do you like about the area?
Everything. I first came to town when I met some people, in particular a good friend of mine - my partner. Then I got introduced to another group of people. The Bright Alpine Leisure Group made me feel very welcome, and they help with the senior citizens, which is very good of them. And then I was introduced to other people and so forth.
Where would you take visitors to showcase the area?
Harrietville, of course. We've got lots of beautiful walking tracks there. I'd go into Bright, we've also got a lot of hiking tracks here and even up to Mount Buffalo. I love Mount Buffalo, you’ve got the Mount Buffalo Chalet and a bit of walking up there. In the wintertime you’d go to the mountains for snow skiing and even the rivers in the spring and the summer.
Is there anything you would change about the area?
No, I love it. I remember my mother when she was alive she’d say “we used to bring you here when you were a toddler”. I don't remember it, but we came up here for holidays and now I'm living here. I'm living the dream.
