AN impromptu rendition of Happy Birthday sung personally by Jessica Mauboy was the last thing Alpine Shire resident Graeme Savage was expecting on his 75th birthday.
The Australian singer was in the local area in November filming a live performance for Sunrise when bad weather forced the crew to scout for a new, indoor location.
Luckily for them, a Porepunkah pub resident told them about a lovely property in the Buckland Valley that just might work.
"My son Grant had a friend in the pub who knew of the shed he'd built for his wedding so he suggested that might be the place," Graeme said.
"I met the cameraman in the pub and asked if he had a stubby for me but instead he invited me to drinks the next morning when they had wrapped up and that's when I mentioned that the 11th was my birthday.
