What's On across the Alpine Shire

MYRTLEFORD Bush Market is bringing in the new year with arts and craft, entertainment, fresh produce, food, jewellery and more for all to enjoy.

There is something for everyone at the annual bush market, held on the first Friday in January, featuring a food court, clothing, tools, plants, health and beauty products.

Myrtleford Bush Market’s Kerry Murphy said local artists Talia Brain and Joe Davis will perform throughout the day and there will be free balloon animals for the kids.

“It’s well worth a visit, it’s a huge market with people coming from everywhere to check it out,” she said.

“Tahlia is just back from a tour around the west coast and recently recorded an album so that will be great to have her there.

“There’s lots of stalls, lots of car parking, really nice amenities with the market in an avenue lined with trees, truly something for everyone with the variety of stalls.”

The annual Myrtleford Bush Market will be held on Friday, January 3 from 9am to 2pm at the Myrtleford Recreation Reserve.

Myrtleford Farmer’s Market

SPEND an evening with the Myrtleford Farmer’s Market this Friday for the 2024 twilight market, featuring a special Market Fling cocktail recipe and the largest variety of stalls to date.

As a collaboration between four market stallholders, postcards with a secret cocktail recipe will be handed out on the night, a recipe that has been tried and tested by stallholders at a recent launch.

Market coordinator Louise Benini said 37 stalls have come on board for this year's event.

“Because it’s still our farmer’s market, it’s all about our producers and helping people access healthy, local, seasonal food for the festive season and Christmas Day and anything else they have on over the coming weeks,” she said.

“It’s summer focused so berries and cherries are back, as well as Heirloom Naturally’s beautiful summer veggies in full bloom, Stony Creek Fish and Gamze Smokehouse for protein, eggs, honey, mushrooms, pasta, nuts, baked goods including Christmas cake and pudding, ginger bread houses and cookies as well as a range of specialty food products perfect for your own food hamper gift.

“Louisa Morris Cakes also has all the gluten-free and celiacs covered.

“In addition to produce, we have four artisan craft stalls to provide local, unique pieces at a great price point with something small for a stocking filler or an investment piece for somebody special.

“Once you’ve done your shopping, please stay to enjoy our range of food and beverage stalls from wineries and breweries with non-alcoholic options.

“We’ll have Vietnamese, fish and chips, a sausage sizzle and newcomer Pavlos Catering bringing Greek street food to you.

“As always, we'll have our two regulars; Crepe Collective with savoury and sweet crepes and Mannie with her Italian donuts.

“I encourage everyone to take time to wander around, you’ll come across some great finds.”

Ms Benini said a highlight is local musician Tracy Hamilton playing on the night, with a surprise 'jolly' special guest expected to visit as well.

If you can’t make it to the twilight market, don’t worry, the market is bringing double the trouble in December with a final farmer’s market on Saturday, December 28 from 8.30am-12.30pm.

Local musician Tracy Hamilton will be providing the entertainment for the event.

The market will be held in the piazza from 4-8pm on Friday, December 20.
