MYRTLEFORD'S Marian College Year 12 student Jaz Rossato was announced as the Dux of the school, achieving an ATAR score of 97.05.
“I was very surprised when I received my ATAR,” she said.
“I definitely wasn’t expecting it and was very excited when I saw the numbers.
“I’m currently on a cruise just off of the coast of Queensland with a few friends, so receiving my ATAR was a little bit different; sitting by the pool, overlooking Moreton Island!
“I have found my VCE experience over the past few years to be a great challenge; there were definitely ups and downs but now I can see that all the hard work has paid off.

"Next year I plan to move to Melbourne to study a Bachelor of Science with an interest in pursuing pharmaceutical science afterwards."
Marian College principal, Cath Watter, said Jaz’s results this year have been nothing short of outstanding.
"Jaz has not only excelled in her academic studies, but has also contributed across all areas of school life,” Ms Watter said.
“She has served as college captain, always working to meet the needs of the school and representing the college in our local community.”
Ms Watter also congratulated fellow members of the college student leadership team, Isabelle Cooke and Lily Cuskelly, on achieving ATAR scores over 90.
"We also acknowledge the five Marian students who received individual study scores over 40, demonstrating a high level of mastery and excellent ability in their subject area and represents the top nine per cent of students.
"These were: Lily Cuskelly, Health and Human Development and Physical Education; Jaz Rossato, Legal Studies; Isabelle Cooke, Psychology; Maddison Pasqualotto, Psychology; and Jack Byrne, Business Management.
"Results day is important for many of our students, many of whom have already been accepted into early entry at universities in both Victoria, interstate and internationally... it is a time of great excitement as they begin to plan for the future.
"I would also like to thank Marian staff for their efforts in preparing our students for their assessments and exams.
“Their expertise, generosity and commitment to our students as they work in partnership with our families is unwavering.
“Our results this year are in large part thanks to their efforts ‘above and beyond’, every day of the week.
"We wish all of our Class of 2024 every success and know that they will continue to be a great source of pride for our school."
THURSDAY morning also saw Myrtleford P-12 College Year 12 student, George Whitford, announced as his college Dux, achieving an ATAR of 95.40.
“I was really thrilled with my score as, although my goal was 95, I didn’t actually think I’d get it in the end,” George said.
“I’d say overall my VCE experience was surprisingly positive.
“I think because I was pretty loose with my goals, I didn’t ever get too stressed throughout the year, helped of course by my teachers at Myrtleford P-12.
“Also having the opportunity to go on the special trip to Türkiye was incredible and something I didn’t expect to be doing in my last year of school.
“I don’t think I’d change much about the year: maybe study some more maths!
“Plan-wise, I’m not really any more decided than I was at the start of the year, however I’m thinking of trying to get into university over in Germany, studying international relations or political science.
“I’ve been working since graduation, saving everything hopefully to fund the move to Europe, or otherwise to pay for university if I don’t get in over there.”
