Bright Rotary Waterslide primed for summer season

THE iconic Bright Rotary Waterslide is undergoing final preparations for its summer season opening, with local businesses pitching in to ensure the popular attraction is ready for its Boxing Day launch.

Recent upgrades include a newly resurfaced landing area completed by Bright Concreting, while Carpet Court Bright is currently installing slip-safe grass covering on the stairs.

Club president Rob Moore said the latest improvements demonstrate the ongoing community support that has helped maintain this much loved Centenary Park attraction adjoining the Ovens River for over four decades.

"Since 1982, the waterslide has been more than just a summer attraction – it's been a vital fundraising initiative for our community," he said.

"Having raised more than $1 million for community projects since its inception, every ride contributes to projects that directly benefit our local area."

To celebrate the start of the season, the Rotary Club of Bright is offering children a free hour of sliding before the Rotary Christmas Carols this Sunday, December 22.

Mr Moore said local and visiting children alike are welcome to enjoy this iconic summer attraction before the carols.

He said the waterslide will officially open on Boxing Day and operate daily from 1pm to 6pm through to the end of school holidays, providing summer fun for families while supporting community initiatives.

"The continued success of the waterslide wouldn't be possible without the support of local businesses and the community," he said.

"We're particularly grateful to Bright Concreting and Carpet Court Bright for their contributions to this year's improvements."
