BRIGHT will return to the training track next week but its bid to go one better than last year’s grand final defeat looks to have hit an early hurdle with tough midfielder Jai Dykstra a chance to miss the entire season.

Dykstra will undergo a shoulder operation in the coming weeks and given the lay-off period expected, could sit out the full year.

The in and under on-baller was a crucial part of coach Tom Mullane-Grant’s midfield pack last season but a constant shoulder issue was only made worse when he damaged the limb further in the grand final loss to Milawa.
