Town band, fire brigade

IN the late 19th century, at the height of a gold mining boom and expansion of agriculture and commerce, Myrtleford and district was served by a brass band.

Understandably, men with family backgrounds in mining in the 'old country' would continue to play brass instruments as a form of recreation and entertain their local community.
