BRIGHT Art Gallery is hosting a new visual arts event for local and regional artists and artisans, with nine categories and two youth awards up for grabs as well as up to $5500 in prize money.
The Bright Art Gallery Summer ART Awards Exhibition will showcase paintings, photographs, sculptural work, ceramics, glassware and two Youth Art Awards.
Exhibitions co-ordinator Annemarie Wiegerinck said the gallery aims to support all artists and artisans, with all art forms and styles welcome and will find a suitable category.
“The committee is pleased to announce the introduction of new youth sections in combination with youth membership of $10 annually,” she said.
“The age groups for the two youth sections are six to 11 years with a prize of $100, and 12 to 17 years with a prize of $300.
“Both youth prizes are kindly sponsored by Britt White Studio, interior design, Wandiligong.
“One of those young talents is student Laura Feltrin who said art was one of her ways to express her feelings.
“She wanted to showcase her art in our exhibition to get it out there in the local community.
“She visited both the recent winter and spring exhibitions and said she was just blown away.”
For any interested artists, get an entry form in for the Summer ART Awards Exhibition by November 15 and deliver your work to the gallery on November 22 or 23.
Entering the awards exhibition is open to all current and new members of the Bright Art Gallery, which in turn supports the gallery.
All entries will be exhibited in the Bright Art Gallery Summer ART Awards Exhibition, which attracts a large audience of local, regional, statewide and interstate visitors over its two months duration.
The exhibition will be open from November 30 to January 27, 2025, five days a week from Thursday to Monday 10am to 4pm.
The main event will be opening night with the ART Awards Presentation, held on Friday, November 29 at 7pm.
