THE inaugural Myrtleford P-12 College Teacher vs. Student Race was an outrageous success last Friday.
Participants wore inflatable costumes covering various themes and had to run a relay lap around the oval; leaping over hurdles, weaving through slalom markers and leaping over the high-jump to arrive at the finish-line.
The race was held at 12:50pm and was run by the Year 12 teachers and their students, with the remainder of the school invited to the sidelines to cheer them on and have a good laugh at the spectacle before lunch.
Organised by teacher, Clinton Slotegraf, the race was introduced as a fun way to celebrate the Year 12 students’ last year of school.
“This is the first time we’ve held this event,” Mr Slotegraf said.
“I think it went well for the inaugural challenge, it was good fun.
“Both the students and teachers were encouraged to participate as we are just starting out and it’s a good way for the secondary teachers to celebrate, too.
“We’ll try to do it every year to help the Year 12s have a bit of fun as they finish school.”
Teachers Danielle Caponecchia and Katrina Bendeman dressed up as a pair of roosters for the race.
“It was brilliant!” Ms Bendeman said.
“This needs to be an annual event, it was so much fun!
“We gave it a go and came in at a respectable place.”
As for the race results, in first place: Blake Woodhall, followed by Nick Hall.
In third place Mikalah Hackett, followed by Annie Iaria.
The Year 12 students' final day at school will be Wednesday, October 23, before they prepare for their upcoming exams; held from Tuesday, October 29 to Wednesday, November 20.
