Farewell from current council line-up

ALPINE Shire Council's outgoing councillors have bid ratepayers and residents a final farewell and thank you now that their term has concluded.

As postal ballots are counted and we await a declaration of the poll on November 15 from the Alpine Shire Council election, a message was posted on council's Facebook page on Monday from outgoing councillors over their last council term.

Of the seven councillors, only one - Sarah Nicholas - has sought re-election.

The post reads:

"As our term as your Alpine Shire Councillors comes to a close, we wanted to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to this incredible community.

"It has been a privilege to serve, and while our journeys as Councillors have been diverse, the common thread has been our shared dedication to making Alpine a better place for us all.

"Collectively, we've served decades as councillors: Tony Keeble who has proudly represented you since 2008; John Forsyth and Ron Janas who have served since 2012; Katarina Hughes and Kelli Prime elected in 2020; and Simon Kelley who joined in 2022, are all stepping down after having given their all to the role.

"Sarah Nicholas is currently awaiting the outcome of the election to determine whether she commences in November for her third term as councillor.

"Between us all, we've balanced careers, families, and community commitments, and it’s been a remarkable experience.

"Many of us have juggled full-time jobs, volunteer work, children, and, of course, the occasional travel, but throughout it all, our motivation was always the same: to serve you, our community, to the very best of our abilities.

"As we hand over the reins, we look forward to seeing Alpine continue to flourish, knowing that the community spirit remains as strong as ever.
