RECEDING snow cover wasn't ideal, but the annual Dinner Plain Sled Dog event on August 10 and 11 still attracted a great turn-out of competitors and spectators.
Event co-ordinator Vaughan Winther said thinning snow due to warm temperatures saw the spectator area relocated 800 metres for the usual venue.
"Despite the weather, we had 80 entries altogether which was a great turn-out," he said.
Courses were run on a series of snow covered trails with the main event held at the 3.2km cross-country trail.
Geoff Clinch and his team from New South Wales took out the gold in the two-dog trials.

In the Skijoring heats, where participants are pulled along on skis instead of sleds, James Hipwell from Victoria secured a victory.
In the junior sled dog events, Ashley Allen came in first place with Ruby Offner collecting silver.
Caleb Gersbach from New South Wales achieved gold in the touring rounds.
Gold in the eight-dog sled race was taken out by Colin McPhancyPants from Victoria.
Guy Offner and his six-dog team from New South Wales were victorious in their class rounds.
The best four-dog class time was completed by Victorian Jess Winther and her team to take the gold.
And finally, the three-dog event was won by Josh Winther and his team from Victoria.
"All of the participants were very happy to get their dogs and sleds out on the trails," Mr Winther said.
"Unlike the last two years, on this occasion there was very little snow and the snow cover that was on the trails was softening very quickly.
"Luckily, the temperature was just perfect enough to hold the event.
"If we had held it a week later, it wouldn't have been good; we would have struggled.
"Fortunately we were able to make a decision early enough to move the crowd and have a great race day."
