EMERGENCY laws to combat the coronavirus in Victoria were passed in a one-day-only crisis sitting last Thursday.

The State Government passed the COVID-19 Omnibus Bill 2020, a mammoth 305-page legislation, which outlines temporary changes to the court system, WorkCover, a ban on evictions and rent increases and the way the local government will govern.

The legislative amendments to the Local Government Act 2020 will allow Alpine Shire Council meetings to be held online, without a physical quorum.
