Alcohol ban remains

PUBLIC BAN: Limited dry areas of the township and restrictions to public consumption of alcohol between 12pm and 8pm.

AN attempt to overturn the ban on public consumption of alcohol at this year’s Bright Iconic Rod Run has been turned down by council this week.

It was announced last month the popular motoring event in November would be publicly dry after a Risk Assessment Panel deemed there were insufficient measures to mitigate the risk of public drinking in the town across the four days from Thursday to Sunday.

The Risk Management Panel was made up of representatives from council, Victoria Police, SES, CFA, Ambulance Victoria and Alpine Health.
