Community rallies to change grog ban in time for Rod Run

COUNCIL MEETING: Community gather to get around the Imposed drinking ban during Rod Run in November.

BRIGHT’S business community has rallied together in a last-ditch attempt to get around a public drinking ban imposed during the Bright Iconic Rod Run in November.

The contingent, led by former councillor and business owner Jason Reid, has until tonight to submit a risk management plan and an application for a separate event in Bright’s CBD which would coincide with and complement the event.

The decision to pass the proposal at last Tuesday’s council meeting divided councillors with Crs Peter Roper, Sarah Nicholas, John Forsyth and Daryl Pearce in support of the motion while Crs Kitty Knappstein, Tony Keeble and Ron Janas were against the idea.
