New police Commander for Wangaratta, Alpine region

Inspector Luke Kirton of Wangaratta Police has taken over the role of Local Area Commander (LAC) of the Wangaratta police service area and said he’s ready to tackle the region’s family violence and road policing challenges head on.

Replacing former LAC Insp Kerrie Hicks, Insp Kirton, 44, brings 19 years of police experience to the role, including uniform policing roles in North East Victoria and in metro Melbourne.

Insp Kirton worked as a junior officer in Wangaratta 15 years ago, as well as working as a Detective Senior Constable at Seymour and Cobram and a five year stint in Dandenong as a Uniform and Detective Sergeant.
