Young soccer guns eye the US college programs

MYRTLEFORD products Fletcher Caponecchia and Azia Feltrin have farewelled their Murray United side with their eyes set on the States.

Caponecchia, 18, this week left for West Virginia where he will take part in a four-year college soccer program and hopes his already-fledging career will be taken to the next level.

The consistent defensive midfielder leaves with the highest possible level in mind.“I am looking forward to getting over there and training and playing because it is an everyday thing for them,” he said.

Feltrin, 19, will spend two years at a community college and said the big move has been a long time coming.For both youngsters, it was former professional soccer player and senior men’s coach Matt Park who planted the seed.
