AN undermanned Myrtleford Saints put up a physical battle at the weekend against the Wangaratta Magpies but it wasn’t to be with the side going down 7.13.55 to 5.6.36 at Norm Minns Oval.

Myrtleford were without three key forwards in Lachie Dale (ankle), Tom Ellard (illness) and veteran Brad Murray (abductor strain).

The match was expected to be tough but proved far from a spectacle as the Saints were restricted to just 1.3 by half time.

Wangaratta were forced to match the Saints’ intensity and attack at the football in the third quarter as Myrtleford kept them goalless and booted three majors of their own.
