THE dairy industry has received a lot of attention over the past year, with struggling farms contending with stagnant milk prices and rising costs, but a new dairy co-op in the North East is working to make life better for farmers.

The Mountain Milk Co-operative is now 12 months old and has brought together farmers from across the Kiewa, Yackandandah, and more recently the King Valley, and continues to grow with more farmers coming on board.

Chief executive officer of Mountain Milk, Patten Bridge said the conception of the Co-op was about giving farmers more control over their own future, and working to give them more of a say in creating a sustainable dairy industry for the region.
