THE widow of Bright resident John West has been overwhelmed by the support of the local community and has commended search personnel for their efforts during the search for her husband.
The three-day search ended in tragedy, after Mr West, 74, who suffered from demetia, was discovered deceased, near the Back Germantown Road on Sunday.
SES and police personnel, including Search and Rescue, Dog Squad, Air Wing officers and community members, began searching the Bright area for Mr West after family members notified police he was missing at 1pm on Thursday.
Mr West’s body was found on Sunday at 11.10am, and his wife Helen said despite the grief her family was feeling, she was extremely grateful to all search personnel.
“Our family would like to put out a big thank you to SES volunteers; they conducted a wide search for John,” she said.
