THE first Ovens and Murray Southern Division Swimming Pennant of the season was swum at Beechworth last Sunday.
Myrtleford Swimming Club took a team of 36 swimmers ranging from eight and under through to open swimmers.
Outstanding performances came from eight and under swimmers Jasmin Thwaites, Lilly Cuskelly, Zara Bodsworth, Issac and Owen Pywell, Lachlan MacGowan and Fearghus Jones with most of those competing in their first pennant.
While other newcomers Molly Cuskelly, Harriet Hurst, Jarrod McCormick and brothers Alistair and Adam Hurst also put in good efforts.
Individually many swimmers posted personal best times in their individual events, with Marco Vear being the stand out.
He smashed 14 seconds off his previous best in the 100m freestyle and seven seconds in the 50m backstroke.
These times payed dividends with a first and second place respectively.
