Late night shopping a hit

JOLLY GOOD TIME: NATHAN, Megan and Ryan Alexander enjoyed seeing Santa during Bright’s Late Night Shopping event last Thursday. The siblings were among dozens of people enjoying the extended shopping hours.

LOCALS and visitors took advantage of Bright’s late night shopping event last Thursday night.

During the evening, the new Christmas tree was officially unveiled by Alpine Shire Council mayor Jan Vonarx.

“It’s fantastic to see the whole shire looking festive and embracing the spirit this season,” she said.

“This tree is here because the Bright business community came together and made it happen – congratulations to everyone who donated, helped source decorations and gave up their time to put them up.”

Bright Chamber of Commerce president Tom Smith thanked everyone for participating in the event and said he hoped it would continue to grow.

“It was great that the tour operators supplied free rides for the kids at their own cost,” he said.
