Jazzing up Kiewa

ALL THAT JAZZ: A new jazz combo in town is Triage, featuring drummer Meg Crebbin, saxophonist Ian Harrowfield, guitarist Garrick Van Der Shoot and keyboard player Jarrod Policha, pictured ready to perform at Tawonga South’s Sweetwater Brewery.

THE music scene in the Kiewa Valley has taken a step up with the formation of a new jazz combo called Triage.

Core members Ian Harrowfield (clarinet, flute, sax and vocals), Jarrod Policha (keyboard, trombone, reeds, flute and vocals) and Meg Crebbin (drums and vocals) are all members of the Mt Beauty and District Community Band, and also play in the Stage Band.

Ian Harrowfield has been active in the jazz scene since the sixties, and still plays jazz professionally in Melbourne and Geelong.

Jarrod Policha teaches music at Mt Beauty Secondary College, and has served an apprenticeship for 10 years in the Melbourne music scene playing sax and backing vocals in various bands with an impressive range of styles from jazz to pop.

Meg Crebbin is a recent find for the group and is described as an accomplished reading drummer who interacts musically with her colleagues.
