Tough chase ahead

TOUGH DAY: Daniel Mansfield lined up in his first game for the season but found the going tough as he was unable to claim a wicket in his return.

BRIGHT has a big run chase ahead to claim victory over Beechworth in round six of the Wangaratta and District cricket’s B grade competition after being set 264 for the win.

Beechworth finished their 68 overs 7/263 thanks to a century from Matthew Jensen (114) and a half century from Dean Fitzpatrick (57).

After being sent in to the field the home side welcomed back Daniel Mansfield and Matt McCormack for their first games of the season while under 14s player Darcy Chellew got his first taste of senior cricket.

And the day started well for the Wanderers as they made a number of early inroads on the Beechworth batting order.

Andrew Badrock was first to strike doing so twice in two balls in his first over to have the away side 2/5.

And when Josh Hoare claimed his first wicket – also in his first over – Beechworth were in real trouble at 3/19.
