MYRTLEFORD has escaped with a draw in their round four Wangaratta and District A grade cricket match against City Colts at McNamara Reserve.

Some solid batting from veteran Brad Piazza and first gamer George Taylor helped the Saints survive an early scare to see them finish 7/149 after being set 229 for victory in 57 overs.

The day started with Colts resuming with the bat at 7/161 after their innings was cut short by rain a week earlier.

The away side had the option of either batting out the day or setting a strong score before declaring and sending their opponents in, to force a result.

Colts would bat for a further 15 overs before finishing at 8/228 off 82 overs, setting a big task for the Saints.

Greg Daniel and Jessie Smith ensured their side made it past 200.
