WELL BOWLED: Opening bowler Ben Paul was again impressive for the Saints, finishing with figures of 1/36 off 20 overs at the end of the first day in the match against City Colts.

MYRTLEFORD finds itself in a strong position heading into day two of its clash with City Colts in Wangaratta and District A grade cricket.

Another solid performance in the field saw the Saints restrict their opposition to 7/161 on a rain interrupted first day.

After guiding the Saints home with the bat last week, Lyndon McIlroy was again crucial for the home side, this time doing his work with the ball.

McIlroy finished with figures of 3/28 off 17 overs, taking a number of key scalps along the way.

He was well supported by Ben Paul (1/36), Luke Wentworth (1/16) and Geof Sundstrom (1/8).

Although the day finished well it wasn’t looking good for the Saints early on as they failed to create any real wicket taking opportunities with Colts opening pair of Isaac Willett and Brenton Whale going about their business with ease.
