Hard work sees Josh as top school based apprentice

HARD WORKER: Marian College student Josh Roche was recently named School Based Apprentice of the Year.

MARIAN College student Joshua Roche was named School Based Apprentice of the Year at The Apprenticeship Factory awards night on October 16.

The year 12 student is currently undertaking his Certificate III in Motorcycle Mechanical Technology at CMR Motorcycle Repairs in Wangaratta after previously completing his Cert II which he began in 2012 while in year 10.

The award came as a surprise to Josh who has successfully balanced Year 12, TAFE, motocross racing and his work over the course of 2014.

“Yeah I’m very happy it was very unexpected,” Josh said.

As well as being a talented mechanic Josh is also a talented motocross rider having won two state titles in his short racing career.

After taking up bikes at the age of four he only began racing competitively at age 14.

In 2011 he won the C grade junior state title and last year claimed the B grade senior state title and his passion for motorbikes was the reason he chose to become a mechanic.
