MYRTLEFORD residents will once again have a choice on where they do their weekly grocery shop, with Foodworks set to reopen in December.

Owner of Mt Beauty Foodworks, Falls Creek Foodworks, Yackandandah Foodworks and manager of Bright IGA Nick Cook, confirmed he would be opening a Foodworks supermarket in Myrtleford.

“Myself and my operations manager Andrew Reid, have set up a new company called Nareco Pty Ltd, of which we are the directors and will be trading as Myrtleford Foodworks,” he said.

“We have always had a desire to open a store in Myrtleford, but the reality of getting the lease and business at the right values to make it a viable operation took some time.

“We’ve been trying since the supermarket closed its doors.”

Having Coles in the same town isn’t fazing Mr Cook, who said he hopes to co-exist with the supermarket giant.
