ALPINE Shire residents are being encouraged to read and make submissions on the recently released draft Rural Land Use Strategy (RLUS).
Counicllors unanimously endorsed the draft RLUS at the September, ordinary council meeting last week.
The draft RLUS has been prepared to assist in implementation of the reformed rural zones that were introduced into Victorian Planning Scheme provisions on September 5, 2013.
Alpine Shire Council director sustainable development Heather Green, said the draft RLUS was ready for public input.
The RLUS breaks the Alpine Shire into eight distinct rural precincts which have been defined by locational characteristics, agricultural productivity, differing land use and land use pressures.
“This is a fairly important strategic document for the shire and we have had extensive community engagement throughout the process,” Ms Green said.
