Locals ‘Doing it with Dung’

BERRY and grape growers from Myrtleford and the surrounding district attended an informative session on ‘Dung Beetles in Horticulture’ recently with guest speaker, entomologist Dr Bernard Doube.

Dr Doube specialises in dung beetle ecology and biology, and has a keen interest in earth worms and soil health.

He has worked for 29 years with the CSIRO on Australia’s dung beetle program, heading up the South African dung beetle component of research which included a posting to Pretoria for seven years.

Local Landcare facilitator Gayle South said the group was thrilled to have someone as experienced as Dr Doube attend and speak at the information session.
