IF you ever wanted a living example of the idiom, “Every cloud has a silver lining”, you need look no further than Buffalo River artist Jackie Allen.

Three years ago, the wife, mother and grandmother was enjoying life on a farm near the Murray River at Rutherglen when a tragic accident almost cost her one of her legs.

Jackie slipped and fell nearly two metres, landing feet first and shattering the bone behind her right knee.

After an agonising wait for medical treatment, doctors were able to save Jackie’s leg, however, the damage left her confined to a wheelchair.

Three years later and Jackie is still unable to walk unaided and is four months into her new life in the Ovens Valley with husband Darren.

But it was a decision in the meantime that has shaped her current outlook on life.
