Chalet crowd fund gathers momentum

FORMER councillor and business owner Jason Reid is calling on Alpine Shire Council to reconsider plans to rejuvenate the centre of Bright.

MT BUFFALO chalet supporters say they are well on their way to an ambitious $1 million target to weatherproof the mothballed, heritage-listed building.

Last week the Vision for Mt Buffalo Team launched a fundraiser through the crowd-funding Pozible website with a $100,000 target by the end of December.

By Monday supporters from around the world had already pledged almost $9000.

Spokeswoman Janelle Boynton said the support had given them hope that the million dollar target wasn’t out of reach.

“We had set our sights low knowing that if we don’t reach the target then we don’t get the money,” she said.

“But from just a soft launch among family and friends we already have $8994 and now believe we can get a long way towards that million dollar mark.
