ALPINE Valley wines will get a major marketing boost with a $20,000 funding bonus from the Victorian Government.

The money will be matched dollar for dollar by regional vignerons.

Jaclyn Symes (MLC, Northern Victoria) announced the Wine Growth Fund Grants recipients in Rutherglen yesterday.

Alpine Valleys Wine Region president Micheal Freudenstein said the money would provide a substantial fund for promotion of the region and its wine and wine grapes.

“This will provide a great opportunity to enhance awareness of the Alpine Valleys as both a wine producing region and a wine tourism destination,” he said.

“Wine grapes grown in the Alpine Valleys are some of the best in Australia and we produce both alternative and traditional varieties.”
