MYRTLEFORD has ended the Wangaratta and District Junior Football League season in glory, winning the under 14 and under 12 premierships.

The under 14s had little trouble getting past Mansfield on their way to a third WDJFL flag however the under 12s encounter was decided in thrilling circumstances, a goal to Harry McKerral in the dying stages putting the Saints up for the first time.

The under 14s enjoyed a 38-point triumph over the Eagles to make up for last year’s grand final loss to Benalla Giants, as they won 14.11 (95) to 9.4 (58).

The under 12s grabbed their first flag since joining the competition in 2014 by beating Kangaroos by just four points with the final score 5.10 (40) to 5.6 (36).

The under 14s completed a near perfect season after setting up the game in the first quarter, holding Mansfield scoreless and gaining a 27 point lead at the first break.

But the Eagles hit back in the second term kicking 4.3 to cut the Saints’ advantage to 16 at halftime.
