A ROSEWHITE cattle stud has broken the liveweight price record at a recent online sale.

Pinaccle Angus’ pen of 34 mixed sex Wagyu x Angus weaners sold for 727 cents per kilo – 18 cents per kilo higher than the previous sale record.

Adding to the achievement stud principle Jake Howman said it was the first time he had sold Wagyu cattle.

The Australian Wagyu Association’s Premium Wagyu Sale on AuctionsPlus generated the new record price for the 11 to 12 month old weaners, as they fetched $1640 per head with the cattle weighing 225.6 kgs.

Mr Howman, who runs the stud with his wife and parents, said he was surprised at the price.

“We actually had a reserve of $6 on the weaners and we would have been very happy to take anything over that really,” he said.
