Coach steps down

PARTING WORDS: Bright coach Regan Alexander (number 12 addressing his team at a quarter time huddle) will not coach next year but will continue as a player for the Mountain Men.

BRIGHT’S final round loss at Glenrowan was Regan Alexander’s last match as coach of the Mountain Men.

Alexander informed the club of his decision to step down in the weeks prior to Saturday’s 102-point drubbing against the Kelly Tigers.

The 29 year-old spent three years in charge of his home club, the first as co-coach alongside veteran midfielder Ben Jones.

He said it was disappointing he couldn’t lead the team to another finals campaign in his final season.

“It’s disappointing for me and the team the way the season panned out,” Alexander said.

“We made a semi-final in 2014 and then last year we saw definite improvement again just losing in the prelim.
