Fixed council terms call

More women and youth also needed says Brian Littlechild

Brian Littlechild has raised the issue of term limits at last week's Alpine Shire Council meeting.

A QUOTA aimed at increasing the number of women on Alpine Council and a limit of two terms per councillor.

They’re just some of the ideas of Brian Littlechild who raised the term limit at last week’s Alpine Council monthly public meeting.

The Bright resident and former public relations specialist says he is yet to commit to running for council in the October election.

Mr Littlechild has been a regular at council meetings in recent times and believes there is a need for fresh ideas.

“I think two terms should be enough,” he said.

“A number of the present councillors have been there for more than that already and I think councils benefit from a fresh set of eyes and new perceptions.”
