Library hub in weeks

A HUB designed to service libraries across four municipalities will be ready for operation in Myrtleford by the end of next month.

A HUB designed to service libraries across four municipalities will be ready for operation in Myrtleford by the end of next month.

Alpine Council who will run the centre says it will create jobs and improve services for library users across the shire.

The hub will operate out of the former Myrtleford Council Chambers.

Initially it was to be established in the adjacent library itself but that plan met with objections from regular library users.

The High Country Library Corporation which runs libraries in Alpine and Mansfield Shires and the Rural Cities of Wangaratta and Benalla, will be dissolved on August 1.

The four councils will start operating the libraries in their respective shires from this date.

Alpine has been selected to provide the library “hub” from Myrtleford, which will service the libraries in all shires.
