Cemetery crash zone

MEMBERS of the Myrtleford Lawn Cemetery Trust fear a major accident is the only way authorities will fix a dangerous intersection on the Myrtleford-Yackandandah Road.

The entry and exit to the cemetery’s parking space is in a 100kmh zone.

There are no passing lanes and no real alternative to take evasive action.

The major arterial road carries a heavy traffic load to and from Albury Wodonga each day as well as being a major thoroughfare for logging and water trucks.

Myrtleford Lawn Cemetery Trust secretary Judy Whitmore believes it would be impossible for a heavily laden vehicle to stop.

“There are people coming and going from the cemetery each day – some have just come from a funeral and maybe emotional, others are elderly family and relatives,” she said.
