25 years service to Bright SES

IN FOR THE DURATION: After 25 years service with the Bright SES, Graham Gales said he will stay with the unit “until they carry me out”.

FOR over three decades Graham Gales has volunteered his time to assist in storm incidents, search and rescues and other emergency events.

Two weeks ago during 40 year celebrations for SES the former school teacher was awarded his 25 year service medal.

Actually in his 33rd year of SES, Mr Gales is Bright’s second longest serving current member.

He said joining a volunteer organisation was always something he had planned.

“I come from a family where community service is in our blood, both my dad and mum were involved in a lot of different things,” Mr Gales said.

“Coming to a community like Bright I thought what I could do, SES or CFA.
