Strong start the key

FINAL HITOUT: Bright and Dederang Mt Beauty players battle for the ball in Sunday’s practice match at Pioneer Park.

BRIGHT will look to start its season in similar fashion against the same opponent as last year when they kick off their 2016 Ovens and King football season on Saturday.

The Mountain Men opened 2015 with a 10 goal win over Tarrawingee on Easter Saturday and will line-up on the same occasion in front of what is expected to be another big Easter crowd.

Bright were also comfortable winners against the same opponents in last year’s elimination final producing a dominant display to end the Bulldogs’ season.

“Last year’s elimination final would have been one of our best performances for the year, a lot of things worked for us,” coach Regan Alexander said.

“But that was then, it’s a new season and a new challenge and it’s always a good match against Tarrawingee.

“We have had some good tussles over the years, they’re very experienced side, well drilled, and we’re looking forward to it.

“It’s going to be a big crowd hopefully the weather is going to be spot on and a win will be the perfect way to start the year.”
