HOW ‘BOUT THEM APPLES: Ross Nightingale and son Brad aren’t just smiling ahead of another year’s apple harvest but the new sales outlet the family-run company has built at the front of their Wandiligong orchard.

BACK in 1968 Nightingale Bros built what was at the time one of the first coolrooms in the country at their Wandiligong orchard.

Almost half a century later and they might have just built one of the first or rather the most impressive farm fresh on-site sales facilities of any fruit grower in the country.

The new ‘big white shed’ is just the latest addition to their ever expanding empire built on apples and chestnuts.

Nightingale Bros director Ross Nightingale said a new sales outlet was something very much required.

“Things were getting busier and where the old shed was we just couldn’t handle the amount of people up here, there just wasn’t enough room,” he said.

“We thought if we were going to do it we might as well get something completely better, fully refrigerated and make the most of it.
