IN a thicket of blackberries, next to a lonely track, three kilometres past the Lake Buffalo dam wall.
That was the final resting place for missing Whorouly woman Karen Chetcuti.
The mother of two’s neighbour (Michael Cardamone), 48, is believed to have visited the scene with police and remains in police custody.
Searchers made the grisly discovery about 1.30pm on Monday, five days after the mother of two was reported missing and just 28kms from where her red Citroen was torched in the early hours of Thursday morning at the top of Halls Road in Myrtleford.
The Wangaratta council records coordinator was found only metres off a two-wheel track near Cropper Creek, less than 500m from the Lake Buffalo Road.
Monday’s discovery followed days of line searches in and around Ms Chetcuti’s Whorouly home, near the scene of the burnt out car and in the Ovens River.
