Bats need to deliver

MT BEAUTY captain Damien Jenvey says his team needs to start delivering with the bat if they are to have any chance of making finals

MT BEAUTY captain Damien Jenvey says his team needs to start delivering with the bat if they are to have any chance of making finals this Cricket Albury Wodonga District season.

The Power are currently eighth on the ladder with just two wins from their first six matches and are in danger of missing the finals for the first time in over a decade in the competition.

Mt Beauty’s latest defeat came at the hands of Barnawartha Chiltern on Saturday as their score of 175 was not enough, with the Miners finishing all out for 193.

The Power have failed to register a score of 200 or more this year and only managed to bat 43 overs last week despite a batting line-up boasting plenty of experience.

The contributions in the match came from Ashan Ranawerra with 57 and the next best being Kevin Morrman (24) and Stuart Cariss (19) but Jenvey said they needed improvement.

“We need to be batting our 70 overs,” Jenvey said.
