Park hat trick puts Savoys into final

MATCH WINNER: Matt Park gets one of his three goals past the Melrose keeper in Sunday’s semi final.

MATT Park has catapulted the Savoys into the Cup final – his three goals the difference in Myrtleford’s 3-2 semi-final win over Melrose on Sunday.

The towering left footer has already found the back of the net five times in the Cup series and buried the first of his hat-trick after just six minutes, inside a quarter of an hour he had two.

When the Melrose keeper fumbled a free-kick 10 minutes into the second stanza it was three and the Savoys were again on the threshold of Albury Wodonga Football Association’s Holy Grail.

In almost four decades of competition the club is yet to taste Cup success.

The win set up an Ovens Valley derby against nearest neighbour Wangaratta at Jelbart Park on Sunday.

Coach Joe Artavilla is reading little into the two late goals that threatened their Cup final spot.
