Nursing unresolved

ALPINE Health and the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF) Vic Branch are continuing discussions after failing to reach agreement on proposed changes to nursing structures at hospitals in Myrtleford, Bright and Mt Beauty.

Alpine Health wants to cut nursing hours and replace them with Personal Care Workers.

It maintains its proposal is necessary to reduce salary costs, while maintaining patient level care.

Alpine Health told the Myrtleford Times that “a shrinking revenue base (both government funded and private revenue) supports the revision of resourcing and cost allocation”.

“Given 75 per cent of Alpine Health’s expenses relate directly to salary and wages, the reform of workforce structure and allocation is essential,” an Alpine Health spokesperson said.
