Buzz cuts, colors raise thousands

FOR A GOOD CAUSE: Myrtleford P12 student Zoe Lyons (centre) shaved her head to raise money for Leukaemia, while primary students (back from left) Pasquale Iaria, Isaac Whittingham, Shae Wheeler, Katie Morrison, (front from left) Charlie Burns, Teagan Brown, Riley Ellero and Emlyn Connor colored and styled their hair.

A MYRTLEFORD P12 College student has raised more than $1500 for blood cancer research after participating in the World’s Greatest Shave last Thursday.

Year eight student Zoe Lyons will contribute a total of $1686 to the Leukaemia Foundation after weeks of fundrasing prior to losing her hair for the “be brave and shave” initiative.

Having been interested in the cause for some time, Zoe decided she would take part this year.

And, despite a few pre-shave nerves, it didn’t take her long to embrace her new look.

“I like it, I was a bit worried what I would look like, but it’s not too bad,” Zoe said.

“I thought I’d be in tears when they cut it off but thankfully I wasn’t.”
