Lucky escape for drivers as car crashed into truck

LUCKY ESCAPE: The driver of this Ford sedan was fortunate to avoid serious injuries after colliding with a cattle truck last Thursday.

A MYRTLEFORD woman was lucky to escape with only bruising to her leg, after her car collided with a cattle truck on the Myrtleford-Yackandandah Road last week.

The two vehicle accident occurred at approximately 7am last Thursday, between Forest Lane and the Myrtleford lawn cemetery.

Senior Constable Col Boyle of Wangaratta Highway Patrol said the driver of a Ford sedan, headed towards Wodonga, entered the wrong side of the road.

“The 23 year old driver was travelling north along the road when she reached to grab a snack bar,” he said.

“In doing so she has veered into the right-hand lane and into the path of an oncoming cattle truck.

“The driver of the cattle truck has seen her moving across and has taken evasive action to avoid a head-on collision.
